Communications & Events
Shannon Banta manages communications and events for AMBayArea. Shannon began working with manufacturers in 2014 with East Bay Manufacturing Group (AMBayArea’s predecessor). Shannon received her bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific in Communication and Public Relations. She has more than 20 years of experience in public relations, including event management, print and online communications, media relations and community relations. Mark Martin, Ph.D.
Mark Martin, Ph.D., manages development for AMBayArea helping the organization to grow and meet the evolving needs of members. Mark has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering, including product development, manufacturing and design research, teaching, and workforce development — at the high school, community college, university, and professional development levels. He received an MBA in Management and Manufacturing from MIT Sloan School of Management, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ying Liu, a Bay Area native, manages workforce development for AMBayArea. She studied pre-medicine at Mills College and law at U.C. Berkeley Law School. While in law school she worked as a refugee advocate for asylum seekers and later became the manager of a legal residency program. She then worked as an outreach coordinator for Laney Community College’s career and technical education programs to help immigrants and other communities find better career opportunities. Ying joined AMBayArea as the ambassador program coordinator, facilitating connections between manufacturing companies and local schools. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
