The Association of Manufacturers Bay Area (AMBayArea) and Bay Area Community Colleges (BACC) partnered to host an inaugural AMBayArea/BACC Golf Benefit on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Lake Chabot Golf Course in Oakland.
The event, which began with lunch and a 1:30 p.m. shot-gun start, provided an afternoon of golf and networking while raising funds for students studying the skilled trades.
Sponsored by Scandic and Mars Engineering, the event brought together representatives from ThermoFusion, BodyCote, Manex, Silicon Valley Elite Manufacturing, Sunnyman Engineering, and Bay Area Community Colleges.
Aluminum trophies made by Laney College on a 3+2 axis Haas CNC mill were awarded for putting and lowest score.
Net proceeds from the event will be used to establish an AMBayArea Scholarship Fund for students in the manufacturing skilled trades, including machining, electronics, QC, welding, CAD, industrial maintenance, and more.
AMBayArea plans to award two scholarships in the Spring of 2022, with additional scholarships to follow. Donations can continue to be made toward the AMBayArea Scholarship Fund by emailing info@ambayarea.org.
